WILLIAM B. SNYDER
CPA, CGMA Shareholder, Director of Accounting and Auditing
Bill supervises the firm’s accounting and auditing practice. He has experience in a variety of industries, including: manufacturing, transportation, computer services, insurance, retailing, communications, nonprofit entities and employee benefit plans. Bill has been instrumental in leading the firm’s accounting and auditing practice through seven successful peer reviews (conducted every three years). His services include:
- Preparation and supervision of audited, reviewed, and compiled financial statements
- Updating the firm on new accounting and auditing pronouncements
- Monitoring the firm's quality control system
- Providing a variety of other services to clients including small business consulting, preparation of corporate and partnership tax returns, and other assurance services.
Bill took a non-traditional route to the accounting profession. After receiving a degree in communications, with honors, from the University of Tennessee, he spent eight years as Advertising Director of a weekly newspaper before returning to college to study accounting. He believes his diverse background enables him to see beyond the numbers when advising clients. "CPAs are information agents. As such, we must effectively communicate information, financial and otherwise, in an objective and reliable manner."
Bill is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and the Tennessee Society of Certified Public Accountants (TSCPA). He has served in various positions with local civic clubs and has been active in his children's school and sporting activities. He and his wife Trescha have two children. When away from work Bill enjoys attending a variety of University of Tennessee sporting events, enjoying the outdoors, reading, and playing guitar in a local rock band.
SEAN W. BREWER
CPA Shareholder, Director of Taxation
Sean W. Brewer specializes in providing tax services to individuals and businesses. He has tax experience with a variety of industries including real estate developers, real estate rental companies, automobile dealerships, community banks, and manufacturers. He also has experience with both multi-state and consolidated tax returns. His services include:
- Preparation and review of the corporation, partnership, estate, trust, and individual income tax returns
- Preparation of compiled financial statements
- Consultation with client personnel on accounting assistance matters
- Researching the tax consequences of various transactions
- Tax projections
Sean has worked in taxation in the Knoxville market since 1997, joining Bible Harris Smith as a tax officer in August of 2014.
Sean has presented continuing education topics to the Knoxville chapter of the Tennessee Society of CPAs, at the SCS Government Contracting Seminar, at the Accounting and Financial Women’s Alliance annual seminar and at the Singleton B. Wolfe Memorial Tax Conference.
Sean is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Tennessee Society of Certified Public Accountants, where he has served in many roles, including that of chapter president.
Sean is a 1992 graduate of Oak Ridge High School. He graduated from The University of Tennessee, Knoxville in 1995 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration with a major in accounting. In 1997 he graduated from The University of Tennessee, Knoxville with a Master of Accountancy degree with a tax concentration.
